This is a two-day program that includes theory and practical skill stations to obtain the skills necessary for providing care to a person who has become suddenly ill or injured. Students will learn to recognize and manage a variety of injuries (wound management and basic splinting) and illnesses including diabetic emergencies, severe allergic reaction, stroke and cardiac arrest. There is also an introduction to the Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
This certificate is valid for three years and each student will receive a St. John Ambulance First Aid Reference e-guide.
Standard First Aid level A is also available, this is the same program as Standard First Aid level C with the exception of child and infant resuscitation and 2-rescuer CPR.
This program is the Standard First Aid level C as listed above, with the addition of the use of the Bag-Valve-Mask (BVM) for ventilations, Artificial Respiration (AR) and a more in-depth knowledge of CPR and the AED.
